In the 1980’s, Claire, an art history professor desperate to escape devastating life upheavals, accepts a summer job in Europe as a personal art guide for an unlikely patron. As the trip progresses, memories of her mother, wisdom from the old masters, and revelations about her traveling companion, all combine to give Claire an unexpected education and a new perspective on life.
